Munchkin Inflatable Duck Bath

Our Munchkin Mummies were sent their first bundle of Munchkin goodies recently and it seems the Munchkin Inflatable Duck Bath was one of the first products they all put to use first. We have received some great feedback from several of the Mummies that we would love to share with you…

Munchkin Mummy Donna, on enjoying the Duck Bath outdoors…

We’ve been making the most of the unusually hot weather and spending a lot of time playing outside. We don’t have a massive garden and so don’t really have the room for a big paddling pool so the munchkin duck has been the ideal subsitute when we wanted to let Sophie cool down and have a splash around and she has happily sat playing in there most days this week.

She loves the water and has been to baby swimming lessons since she was 15 weeks old which is really starting to show now as she has no fear of getting water in her eyes, her favourite game is using her Munchkin bath toys to tip water over her face which gets lots of giggles! The duck is the ideal size and quick and easy to blow up and fill up so will definately be coming with us when we go on our first family holiday in a couple of weeks just in case we are lucky with the weather!

Munchkin Mummy Fiona, with 2 little Duck Fans!

When I first received my box of Munchkin goodies my eldest daughter, Lily, dived straight in and emerged with her two favourite products – the sea squirts and the inflatable duck bath. As Lily was at the top end of the suggested age range for the bath, my plan was to put it away, try out the other products first, then come back to the bath in a couple of months when my youngest, Mollie, would be able to road test it.

Alas, as soon as Lily spotted it all I heard was “bath, bath, bath!” at 11am. When I said we’d wait until that evening to have a bath, the reply was “two baths!” (I’ve got to give her credit for trying her luck on this one!).

Although she didn’t get her two baths, I was asked again and again at tea time to blow the duck bath up, which Lily happily sat in for a while. It was really easy to inflate and looked great – even in the dining room! After dinner, Lily finally got her bath – I found the duck easy to fill and a fantastic way to save water as I didn’t have to fill the big bath full of water as usual.

Lily, in her little sister's Duck Bath!

Lily was quite happy splashing in there, even though she filled the whole thing up! Only downside was that the water got cold rather quickly, but I’m not sure if this would be the case with a younger child as they probably wouldn’t be in there for as long. The non-slip bottom was a really useful feature as Lily tends to move around quite a bit in the bath. We didn’t personally use the White Hot safety disc for Lily as she would have told us if it was too hot, however I’m sure that when I use it for Mollie this will be an essential feature.

However, a downside is that with two children I do like to bath them together when possible so unfortunately the duck bath can’t be used then which is a shame. I also thought it would be great if the beak quacked, however I’m not sure if this would encourage children to lean forward out of the bath and therefore could have safety implications.

Overall, this is a great product that kids love! I will review again when my youngest can sit up and will feedback again – I remember when Lily was young I was looking for such a product when she had only just begun to sit up so hopefully this will come in handy.

Munchkin Mummy Chloe with Charlie, who enjoyed hugging his new Duck!

Charlie really loved the duck bath when I first inflated it and it was empty on the floor, he had great fun climbing in and out and hugging the head.

I think it is a brilliant idea and I was so excited when I pulled it from the box, it was the first thing we tried out. I think it’s handy as well because it has the added bonus of the safety heat sensor which a lot of parents would be relieved to see, whilst making bath time fun at the same time.  I think it’s more suited to younger, smaller babies who are less mobile, maybe 0-1.
